Ringtons

Ringtons is an institution in the North. When Ringtons began in 1907, the owner sold tea from his horse and cart. Now they are producing tea for the nation.

The Challenge

With a workforce of over 500 employees, many not based in an office and working in either factories or driving the Ringtons vans, we needed to work out a way to successfully launch the EAP.

After two employees at Ringtons ended their own life in 2018, Ringtons felt that something needed to be done. After researching into the support available, they decided it was important to have the mental health support that CiC could offer their employees.

The Solution

On 5th October 2018 Ringtons launched a full EAP with CiC, which included access to a telephone helpline, accessed to qualified therapists, legal and financial support and access to our Wellbeing Portal. Ringtons also implemented a whistleblowing service.

In order to promote the wealth of the EAP, CiC held an EAP briefing to over 300 employees.

In terms of ongoing promotion, CiC have worked with Ringtons to create bespoke EAP stickers which are now on all Ringtons vans delivering tea all over the UK. As well as this, Ringtons have EAP posters in all the departments. Mental Health First Aiders and Champions wear lanyards with a special wellbeing card, containing CiC’s contact information.

The Outcome

Since implementation, CiC have supported 36% of employees. Ringtons have also initiated other projects, such as taking on Mental Health Champions and Mental Health First Aiders to work alongside their wellbeing strategy.
